WATER CREWS TO CLOSE THE 400 BLOCK OF SOUTH SALINA STREET
FOR TWO-WEEK WATER MAIN PROJECT
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The City of Syracuse Department of Water will close the 400 block of S. Salina Street, between W. Jefferson Street and W. Onondaga Street, beginning the evening of Monday, Sept. 14 to complete a water main replacement project. The work is being completed in coordination with the road reconstruction project along S. Salina Street from Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard to N. State Street.
Water service disruptions are anticipated to be minimal. Property owners will be notified of any planned water service disruptions at least 24 hours in advance.
Vehicle traffic for businesses and Centro bus routes on the block will be redirected to marked detours on S. Clinton and S. Townsend Streets. Parking pass holders and visitors to the Galleries of Syracuse will have access to the garage located at 447 S. Salina Street. Sidewalks for pedestrian traffic along the 400 block will remain open.
The project is scheduled to be completed in two to three weeks, dependent upon the weather. A new project will commence in October 2020 to continue the replacement of the water main starting on the 300 block of S. Salina Street.
